Grade 304 Stainless Steel
The melting point of 304 stainless steel is higher than its 316 stainless steel counterpart,
ranging between 2,550 – 2,650 °F or 1399 – 1454 °C. But as the material draws closer to these
temperatures, it continues to lose its tensile strength gradually.

Grade 316L:
The L denotes the low content of carbon in the steel. 316L is best known among fabricators for being resistant to cracks after the weld process is completed. This makes 316L the preferred choice of fabricators who look to build metallic structures for industry applications.
316L is the superior choice for high corrosion and high temperature applications. Since 316L contains less carbon than 316, it has better intergranular corrosion resistance, meaning its welds won't decay, unlike with 316 stainless steel.
